Corruption is a Problem. But is it the Biggest One? – Kathir RS

Corruption deserves attention, but is it the biggest challenge facing Tamil Nadu? This article argues that focusing only on corruption risks overlooking the social justice, educational opportunities, women's empowerment, equal rights, and institutional reforms that have shaped the state's progress. It invites readers to examine the broader picture and ask what could be lost if these foundations are weakened.

The DMK  (2021-26)  Government created a lot of elites and an expanded upper middle class in the past five years by nearly doubling the state’s growth and per capita income. At around ₹3.5 lakh per person, this means every family of three now earns around ₹10 lakh per year.

These elites are mostly late 90s and 2000s born. They have become the biggest consumers of luxury goods, (including drugs) Many of them also created substantial wealth by buying flats, lands, plots, cars, and more.

They could see in person how the existing government structure works. The common public born in the early 90s and 80s were used to all these practices. In fact, they are happy to see that change is slowly happening in government offices. It was very bad and nasty earlier.

But the new-age youngsters thought nothing had changed as they wished. There was also a constant comparison between politicians and the common man, and between government employees and the common man, in terms of acquired wealth.

It has always been a big difference in society, but of late, this gap has been slowly reducing — unlike in the Congress era, whose impact extended well into the late 70s and 80s.

All these were instant irritating factors for the youth who had just started earning and accumulating wealth. They never gave a thought to the reasons behind their wealth, success, employment, and opportunities.

They ignored the reason for a fair society, the reason for nil caste arrogance, the reason for free speech, the reason for world-class infrastructure, the reason for the free flow of entertainment, the reason for their identity, and the reason for their health, wealth, and position in life.

Everything was taken for granted. They climbed on it, ate from it, and saw only the system that demands money for its services once in a lifetime as the major issue.

Our films for the past 35 years have portrayed corruption as the biggest issue, rather than caste, society, opportunity, employment, free living, or free speech. Corruption is indeed an issue… but ending corruption alone is not going to solve everything.

Yeah, we are just breathing after 2000 years of corruption in society. It was a social corruption — no education, no employment, no dignity, no self-respect. That was our life just 60 years ago.

Casteism existed in every village, every government institution, every temple, and every public place.

What if it comes back now?

It is true that most North Indian states are still living with this social insecurity. In the BIMARU states alone, more than 50 crore people face casteist & religious attacks and discrimination every day. They cannot build their houses, ride horses, take water from common wells or ponds, attend schools where upper-caste students study, or freely enter upper-caste living areas.

Once upon a time TamilNadu also had undergone all these discriminations & atrocities.

What if all of this returns to Tamil Nadu?

Upper castes still cheat on reservations in North India. Upper castes deny education / employment to OBCs, SCs, and STs. What if the same happens in Tamil Nadu too?

All of India is following the Hindutva–Manusmriti–Brahmanism ideology. Tamil Nadu is the only state that stands in opposition and continuously raises questions.

What if that resistance stops?

Tamil Nadu is the only state that gave education to all women, empowered them, and uplifted them through various schemes. This is not the case in North India or most other states. They are still following Manusmriti and denying education and employment to women. Only upper-caste women come up, study, and work — wiping out opportunities from OBC, SC, and ST women.

This is not the case in Tamil Nadu. We have more than 43.2% of women holding positions in education, employment, entrepreneurship, and bureaucracy.

Tamil Nadu is the only state continuously opposing NEET, NEP, CAA, delimitation, and other Union Government impositions.

What if the Union Government gets a free hand and implements them in Tamil Nadu too?

Tamil Nadu is the only state opposing the Hindu-Hindi-Hindusthan ideology and preparing our kids for global standards — keeping them away from religion, superstition, and religious hate.

What if all of this ends within a few years?

So now
Which will be your priority — corruption, or all the above?

What if all the industries brought in by the previous government stop their operations and move to other states because of the bad administration in Tamil Nadu, just like in BIMARU states? A large number of youngsters will lose their jobs and will have to migrate to other states or countries, just like they did 40 years ago.

Where will they go?

Another 10 years Tamil Nadu may survive because everything has already been built to run on its own — until someone deliberately ruins it.

If a government continues without Dravidian ideology, without Dravidian principles, and without the vision & Skill of DMK leaders… not just Tamil Nadu, but the entire India will go down the drain.

Because of Tamil Nadu and the Dravidian ideology, India has grown this big.

If Periyar had not brought changes to the Constitution on reservation..
If Anna had not opposed Hindi firmly…
If Kalaignar had not continuously voiced concerns for state autonomy and restored state rights…
If Kalaignar had not brought laws for women’s empowerment…
If Kalaignar had not worked with VP Singh and brought the Mandal Commission…
If Stalin had not brought OBC reservation in medical seats and continuously opposed EWS, NEET, CAA, delimitation, NEP, etc…

India would not be the same India we see now.

In the past 10 years, thanks to social media, Dravidian leaders and their ideology have started spreading across India because of all these great contributions to the country. DMK leaders also positioned themselves strongly against the Hindutva ideological party BJP and started fighting them directly.

But all of a sudden, here comes a setback in this 2000-year war.

When the South was about to take over the North after thousands of years, the enemy planted a proxy government in Tamil Nadu.

It happened with the support of the Tamil youth, Dalit people, and women.

Doesn’t that sound strange? The very ideology and party that fought for them all these days — gave them employment, empowerment, equal rights, and freedom — has now been defeated by them!

Throughout history, this has been the case. But again, it will take years for recovery. Until then, we are all going to suffer big time. That’s for sure.
